During the finale of RIDCC 2026, the Club Guy & Roni Partner Award was presented to Mother May I by People Watching, created and performed by Sabine van Riet and Natasha Czertok.
As a long-standing partner of Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition, Club Guy & Roni annually presents a partner award to a work that stands out through its artistic vision, physicality, and potential for further development.
About Mother May I, artistic director Roni Haver said:
“A duet that explores power, femininity, and the invisible connection between two women. The work moves between trust and control through a constant negotiation of balance. Sabine and Natasha bring together circus, dance, and physical storytelling in a raw and honest way. The language is physical, but also deeply emotional, turning simple actions into meaningful human connections.”
Through an impressive combination of circus techniques, dance, and physical storytelling, Mother May I creates an intimate and emotionally resonant dialogue between two performers. The work captivated audiences and jury members alike with its nuanced exploration of connection, vulnerability, and strength.
