Mehdi Dahkan

Mehdi Dahkan (Tangiers, 1998) is a Moroccan dancer and choreographer. His first contact with dance came when his cousins took him to a dance training session for their crew, when he was just 12. His first memory was of a guy who kept hopping on one hand, and another one doing headspins: his first thought was that these people had superpowers.

Since then, he has begun to explore breaking and other urban practices such as parkour. Mehdi then joined his cousins’ breakdance crew, with whom he gained experience on national and international stages. His curiosity for different styles led him to Bollywood, then to contemporary dance. Since then, he has worked with numerous choreographers in Morocco and Europe before founding his own company “Jil Z” in 2019, and embarking on his own choreographic research.

Through dance, Mehdi has discovered his second favorite activity: traveling the world. Luckily now he can do both.
