Mohamedou in the Netherlands

Mid November last year, the Dutch government finally allowed Mohamedou Ould Slahi to travel to the Netherlands!

After months of processing the VISA application, The Netherlands and its institutions have finally been brave enough to grant Mohamedou his freedom and let him travel to The Netherlands at the end of November 2021. This means we can finally continue our collaboration with Mohamedou in real life.

As a writer-in-residence with the Noord Nederlands Toneel and Club Guy & Roni, Mohamedou wrote the script for the Club Guy & Roni performance FREEDOM.

Freedom is inspired and bawsed on the life lessons of Mohamedou, who was held in Guantanamo Bay for 14 years without ever seeing any form of evidence or trial. He documented his years in his Guantanamo Diary, which was recently adapted into a The Mauritanian. FREEDOM is the first result of Mohamedou’s residency at NITE.
