About The Underground
Guy Weizman: “The Underground was inspired by Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s Notes from the Underground, a monologue by a man who’s taken plenty of hits in his life and finally decided to quit the system and ensconce himself in his house instead: his ‘underground’. Rik van den Bos ran with that theme and penned a phenomenal, topical show about someone who can’t accept the way the world works, who can’t manage to play by the rules, and takes their spiritual riches and slinks off to the margins.”
Prepare to be blown away. The Underground is a gritty, witty, tragic production from Guy Weizman and the NITE ensemble. After winning the director’s award for Salam and garnering rave reviews with Brave New World 2.0 and Before/After, theatre, dance, film and music lovers now have Weizman’s next production to look forward to: The Underground, starring Sanne den Hartogh as lead singer in the band.
